Adopt a Alaskan Malamute (medium coat)

Alaskan Malamute (medium coat) Dog

Alaska the Dog needs a home

ALASKA

Breed: Alaskan Malamute / Adoption fee is $150 / Sex: Female / Age: Approximately 5 yrs old / Weight: Approximately 98.3  pounds

Alaska is a very shy and sweet, beautiful malamute girl.  When you first meet her she is a little cautious but once she is out of her kennel she will warm up to you.   Going to play and get exercise in the rescue's park is her favorite thing to do and you really see her come out of her shell when she gets room to run.  Alaska gets along well with other dogs and lived with a male malamute.  She is very well behaved, quiet and chill while in her kennel.  She has not been cat tested and did not live with a cat prior to living at our rescue.  Alaska really wants a family of her own. Alaska did test positive for heart worms when she came to Pet Angels.  Pet Angels is paying for the cost of her treatment. But it would be great for her to find a home, especially during her treatment, as it takes about 2 months to treat. Treatment requires only one trip to the vet and some down time to rest and remain calm.

NORTHERN BREEDS: All of our Husky/Northern breeds require a home visit to check for appropriate fencing and if needed, to offer tips on containment. You can quicken your adoption process by sending us some yard pics, focusing on the fence lines, when you submit your application.

Please keep in mind if you want to own a husky or malamute you will need to be open to the fact that containing this dog may require you to install a hot wire system (cost is approx $100) this is quite often needed to preventing digging, climbing or chewing through fences.  A hot wire is typically the best route to start with for proper containment and peace of mind.  Some of our dogs will require this fencing method, prior to adoption, due to knowing they have a history with escaping and can either jump or climb over your current fencing.  For most yards installation of a hot wire is simple and can be done in under 2 hours.

Northern breeds are beautiful dogs but can have challenging personalities.  They can be demanding and very destructive by chewing or digging and if not exercised they may be hard to contain when their needs are not met.  Please learn a little more about the breed on our home page.

Pet Angels has a number of northern breeds available for adoption and you can see them all by visiting www.petangelsrescue.org.

Alaska has had her age appropriate vaccinations brought up to date with Rabies (4 m & older), heart worm test (4 m & older) and/or started on prevention, basic dewormer, spayed or neutered and microchipped by 24Petwatch with free registration , and also comes with 30 days of free 24Petwatch Pet Insurance
